How-To: Creative Sound Blaster Surround 5.1 - Mac OSX
Oto małe How-to dla posiadaczy tej karty dźwiękowej.
Creative Sound Blaster Surround 5.1 to całkiem niezła zewnętrzna karta dźwiękowa. Na screenach widnieje pod inną nazwą, gdyż w rzeczywistości jest to Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External. Dlaczego tak jest?? To proste - są to te same urządzenia. Na naszym rynku wersja Surround 5.1 posiada obudowę w innym kolorze i nie ma pilota.
Układ montowany w tej karcie jest taki sam jaki można znaleźć w piecykowych kartach SB Live! 24-bit na PCI. W sumie jedynymi różnicami między wersjami USB i PCI jakie zauważyłem jest fizyczna ilość obsługiwanych kanałów dźwiękowych. Wersja PCI ma 4 gniazda mini-Jack (7.1) a Wersja USB ma tylko 3 (5.1).
Wiele osób ma problemy z uruchomieniem dźwięku 5.1 na tych kartach, dlatego przedstawiam wam sposób na rozwiązanie tego problemu.
Pierwszą czynnością jest oczywiście podłączenie karty do naszego maczka. Leopard powinien automatycznie ustawić Creative’a jako domyślne wyjście dźwięku. Można to sprawdzić w Preferencjach Systemowych:
Jeśli Leoś jej nie przełączył to robimy to za niego wybierając urządzenie z listy.
Kolejnym krokiem do osiągnięcia dźwięku 5.1 jest uruchomienie Konfiguratora MIDI Audio.
Tak! Tym narzędziem ustawia się ilość wykorzystywanych kanałów audio:
W otwartym oknie w polu wyboru “Własności:” wybieramy naszą kartę:
Później w obszarze “Wyjście audio” wybieramy odpowiedni “Format:”. Tu trzeba pamiętać o tym, że karta pomimo obsługi USB 2.0 działa tylko z prędkością 12Mb/s (takie uwstecznienie się producenta).
Przez to wybór “96000,0 Hz” i “6 kanałowy-24-bit” jest niemożliwy. Karta sama przestawi się na 48000,0 Hz.
Teraz klikamy “Konfiguruj głośniki” i wybieramy “Wielokanałowy”:
A z rozwijalnej listy wybieramy “5.1 Surround”:
I to wszystko!
Teraz wystarczy włączyć jakieś DVD lub inne źródło 5.1 i delektować się dźwiękiem.
Niestety ze względu na brak wsparcia ze strony Creative karta cierpieć będzie na kilka dolegliwości.
Przycisk CMSS nie działa (brak softu), podłączenie słuchawek wycisza dźwięk. Po wciśnięciu “rolki” do sterowania głośnością dźwięk wyciszymy ale kolejne jej wciśnięcie już nie przywraca dźwięku.
Rozwiązaniem tych problemów jest ręczne wybranie kolejno, karty zintegrowanej i USB.
Ja jako posiadacz tej kart podpiętej do iMac’a mogę tylko powiedzieć że powyższe “dolegliwości” w niczym nie przeszkadzają (mi). Zwyczajnie sobie jest podpięta, a steruję dźwiękiem tak jak normalnie czyli klawiatura, pilot, suwak na górnej belce.
